Vinyl Plantation Shutters a Cheaper Alternative

If you love the look of plantation shutters but simply cannot afford to buy and install the more expensive wooden type, you may want to look into buying PVC shutters.  Contrary to what is often thought, they do not look cheap and in fact they can really add to a room’s appearance.

The most common type of PVC plantation shutters are white although it is also possible to buy different colored shutters. Traditionally, though, white is the preferred color of choice and for good reasons. Installing a white cheap plantation shutter on windows can give your room a real lift. They look clean and bright and can really lighten the overall tone and décor in a room.  The great thing with white, also is that it is not difficult to match with other furnishings as it goes well with most furniture and floor coverings. This also eliminates the need for changing your shutters every time you buy new furniture and allows you great freedom when redecorating as you do not need to worry whether your new furniture will match with your shutters.

They are also extremely easy to clean. You can simply dust them when you do your regular dusting and as the louvers are quite a bit wider than those found on venetian blinds, for example, they do not take that long to dust at all. In the event that they need a more deep cleaning you can simply wipe them down with a damp rag and then dry them off afterwards.

White PVC does tend to yellow if exposed to too much direct, bright sunlight. If you live in an area where this may be a problem you should look into treated blinds. These will not yellow if exposed to sun and will last much longer, thus it is worth the extra that you have to pay for this option. Alternatively you could put some tinted window film on the windows also to help protect the shutters.
